What is the secret to improving your child’s academics? Find out!

Bruce davey, apeMost everyone knows that being physically active is important for everyone as physical activity leads to improved physical fitness and health.  However, it is also well known that physical activity leads to improved academics.  Here is a link to a website that provides an overview on movement and learning with links to research articles.  http://www.pesoftware.com/Resources/moveLearn.html

The bottom line is if you would like to help improve your child’s academics then
make sure that your child is physically active.  How much physical activity?  The
American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM) recommends that children get
60 minutes a day of physical activity including moderate to vigorous activity
and that adults get 150 minutes a week of moderate to vigorous physical

So, how can you make that happen? Play—go out and have fun working on the
skills in which your child needs to work on as well as other gross motor skills.
But make whatever it is fun! For more information on making physical activity

    I agree with Jill, sometimes going on outings with the family helps to promote the goals of physical activity for our kids without having to set aside the time to work on those IEP goals. You give us a new dimension to think about how it ties in with academics! Thank you.

    Thank you Mr. Bruce for posting this, very good information. We enjoy swimming and riding bikes as a family. Also taking our dog Olive out for a walk.
